This is my story…..
I was born half a century ago – sounds like a long time, eh? It is, it is. But it’s only a drop of water in the sea of life.
That’s what interests me, the sea of life.
I’ve lived in Hamilton for most of my half century, except for a short stint in Calgary back in the early ’80s, when the streets were paved with gold. I’ve been back in Hamilton for the last 20+ years and happy for it.
I have two children, daughters. They are not ‘children’ in the temporal sense of the word, but they will always be my babies. The eldest has a Master’s in Social Work and is married, the youngest is in her first year at university. I’m looking to pick up my life where I left it before I detoured down the mommy track.
I’m a writer. I haven’t been working as a writer all these years, but that doesn’t stop the words from coming, the itch from needing scratched.
I have a degree in History and Women’s Studies from McMaster University. I chose to study History because as a writer I’m interested in stories, and you know what they say, truth is stranger than fiction. In particular, I’m interested in the stories of women, of our sisters, mothers, grandmothers and their grandmothers going back to the beginning of recorded time.
This blog is a collection of my thoughts on the sisterhood; where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going.
