Welcome to the Sisterhood!

This blog is dedicated to exploring the geography of the sisterhood, that is, the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and phyical space occupied by women here in Canada and across the world.  In particular, this space will highlight the relationships between women:  what does it mean to be a mother, daughter, sister, or friend to the other women in our lives.

Topics for discussion will bubble up from the culture around us:  stories in the newspapers, conversations with friends, arguments with my partner….

“What’s in it for me?” I can hear my male readers thinking.  Well – men are always asking “what do women want?” so this site might give you some idea.  More importantly, though, I hope this site will inspire men to look into their own behaviours vis-a-vis other men by reflecting on how women treat other women.  And I’m not referring to the “Bro Code” either.

I’ve been collecting bookmarks on Delicious under the tag:  inthesisterhood.  I gather these bookmarks while I surf the net at lunchtime (honest!).  These articles all relate to women.  What I’m interested in exploring is the way we treat each other, woman-to-woman.

There’s a lot of talk out there about the “sisterhood”.  What does that mean?

What do you think?
